Dia de los Reyes Magos, is a traditional Mexican holiday that we celebrated at RIN. Read below for an explaination of the festival.
Three Kings Day or Epiphany is observed in Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries on January 6th and celebrates the arrival in Bethlehem of the Three Kings who followed the star for twelve days to Bethlehem bearing gold, frankincense, and myrrh to honor the baby Jesus. This is the day that the Three Kings revealed Jesus to the world as King.
On the morning of Dia de los Reyes Magos gifts from theThree Kings are opened and enjoyed. This is a day to spend with family and friends.

On Sept. 12, 2009 we celebrated the birthdays of 24 members of our RIN family, and yes, this happened to be an unusually large group even for us! Since we have tried to do something new and special for each quarterly celebration, this time it was Movie Day! We had the children assemble in the gym and explained that this time around we weren’t going to be able to go on an outing, but that we were going to have a special activity right there in the gym. Though trying their best to be polite, you could see the disappointment on their faces and a few groans slipped out.

At the end of March 2008 we took the whole Home to a local water park in Reynosa to celebrate the December, January, February and March Birthdays. Everyone had such a wonderful time, including a few of our wonderful Winter Texan Volunteers & Child Sponsors, who helped off set the cost!(¡GRACIAS!)
So, when time came to celebrate the April, May & June Birthdays… We decided to do it again! Hopefully everyone can see from these images, just how important these types of outings are for the children and the staff. Maybe some group would like do a special project to help us raise extra funds to sponsor these outings … any takers?

June 26th 2008 was a very special day for our entire RIN family; as we joyfully celebrated the academic achievements of 11 of our children!
Eliu Felix & Juan Almaguer (Mid. back row) successfully completed their Elementary studies, Daniel Rosas (Rt. Back) finished Jr. High, 7 little ones will be moving on to first grade (4 are pictured in the front row) and Julio Cesar Ibarra Vazquez (Back left) finished High School.
We decided that since education is such an important part of CHI’s ministry, this would be the perfect opportunity to get the whole Home together, have a nice dinner (courtesy of Rejoice-our visiting TEAM)and listen to a few words of encouragement from Julio, our guest of honor.
