This sweet young man has been raised by his maternal grandparents, since being virtually abandoned by both his mother and his father. When his elderly grandmother developed terminal cancer, Sergio had to become her full-time caretaker as his grandfather was an alcoholic. He was unable to attend school and lived in extreme poverty. A missionary who was familiar with the family and our organization brought Sergio to our home.
In just a short time he has bonded with his house parents and the other children. We believe this is the first time in his life that he has been able to act like child and have fun.
